Doing Nothing
Lying poolsidein half a trancelife surrounds me---whoops, yells, and laughterof children playing in the water.
There is life in emptiness.
While reading a teachingwhich reminds me to remember deathwith every inhale and exhalea small child cavortsand cannon balls into the waterwith immeasurable exhilaration.
Immerse yourself in life.
One wall of the poolhas an insipid muralof a seascape painted on it---sand, birds, breaking waves, a beach ball.In my trance I thinkHow beautiful!
Death’s companionshipelevates meheightens my awareness.I do nothingsavoring the experiencelike the last mouthfulof a fine meal.
